Asylum Equipment: Private 1

Asylum Private Technologies

These items are for the exclusive use of the Asylum Armed Forces and the Marauders (i.e. The Marauding Maniacs). This equipment is exclusive to these organizations and will be unavailable on the Black Market. Some items MAY be given as 'gifts' to players in return for some valuable service that they have provided. Note: when this technology is given to a player, the Asylum will force them to sign an agreement that the players will not modify the equipment in any way, and will bring it to an Asylum office for repairs. Players who violate this agreement will have the equipment confiscated, and will be denied any future assistance from the Asylum. In addition the Asylum may or may not replace the 'damaged' equipment with comparable systems from a competitor. GM's should make this equipment rare, and if they allow PC's to have it, should adhere to the Asylum's repair policy. The Asylum will not grant any exceptions to this rule. Having said that, onto the show!!

Asylum Infantry Combat Armor (AICA)

This is the standard body armor for the AAF and the Marauders, the armor is a basic shape and has been developed to fit most races. The Asylum even manufactures giant, and mini sizes, as well as for Wolfen, Centaurs, Gargoyles, etc. The Armor has the same basic features as all other suits of body armor, namely, independent air supply, built in radio, etc. but, that is where the similarity to other suits of body armor ends.

The AICA has a built in exoskeleton which provides the wearer with additional strength, speed, and agility while wearing the body armor. The suit is also made of an energy resistant material that reduces the damage from particle beam and plasma weapons by 2/3, i.e. the armor only take 1/3 of the damage rounded up. Additionally the armor is 'plated' in a laser resistant material which will only take half damage from lasers. Due to the fact that more and more variable frequency lasers are making to the open market, the laser resistant feature is designed to only protect against the first few seconds of combat (that's 2 melee rounds folks), after which the protection gained from the plating process is lost until the armor can be repaired.

The armor also has a built in 'kinetic force field'. This force field provide the armor with an additional 100 MDC however, this force field has no effect on lasers, particle weapons, or plasma weapons. The force field is only good against projectile weapons i.e. mini-missiles, rail-guns, etc. but, the force field will also regenerate an incredible 2d6 MD points per round. The armor also has a built in weapon/tool of the characters choice on the forearm of choice. This weapon/tool is powered by an e-clip which is plugged into the upper-arm of the armor. A second e-clip is plugged into the other arm to power the force field.
Features:

Asylum Enhanced Weapon System (AEWS)

The AEWS is a combination weapon featuring a pulse-laser, Particle- beam, and a grenade launcher. The Pulse laser is a marvel of advanced laser technology; it is a variable frequency laser, red/blue-green laser, and pulse laser rolled into one. The laser can be used as a traditional red laser or used as a blue-green laser for more efficient use underwater. Either mode can be used in combination with the on board targeting computer. The computer will adjust the laser for a frequency that will do the most damage to laser resistant armor. (optimum setting will be determined after 2 shots(pulse or single)) Additionally the AEWS mounts an impressive short-ranged P-beam, while the P-beam's short range makes it a secondary weapon on this system, it is no less deadly. Finally, the side-slung grenade launcher is also tied into the computer targeting system and is capable of firing multiple types of grenades. The Laser and P-Beam are mounted in an over/under configuration while the grenade launder is mounted to one side (there are left and right versions).

Weight: 20 lb. a P.S. of 20 or greater is required or else suffer a -2 to strike with any of the weapons.
Mega-Damage: The Laser inflicts 3d6+4 for a single shot or 2d4x10+5 for a rapid fire burst (3 shots)
The P-Beam inflicts a massive 1d6x10
The Grenade Launcher depends on the type:

Bonuses: The built in targeting computer provides the following bonuses:
+3 to strike on a single laser shot
+2 to strike on a triple laser shot
+1 to strike with the P-Beam or grenade launcher
Range: The Laser: 3000 feet
The P-Beam: 300 feet
The Grenade Launcher: 2000 feet
Rate of Fire: The Laser can fire single shots or triple shot bursts only
The P-Beam can fire single shots only
The grenade launcher can fire singles, bursts, and full clip
Payload: Long E-clip: 45 single laser shots, or 15 triple bursts, or 10 P-Beam shots
E-clip Canister: 60 single laser shots, or 20 triple bursts, or 15 P-Beam shots
Grenade launcher: a full clip is 10 grenades

Asylum Personal Holographic Projection Unit (APHPU)

This device looks like a belt/harness/butt-pack combination including the traditional hooks, snaps, and pockets. In reality this unit is a complex Holographic Projection Unit (HPU), a tiny super computer, and a miniature Contra-Gravity device. The unit can be used to project images in front of the user, to make 3-D 'photos', etc. It can also be used as a personal computer for storing information, playing games, running simulations, etc. The real power in this device is its ability to project images around the user and to give this image a 'solid' feeling. In other words the end result of this incredible technology is similar to the 'holodeck' from Star Trek. The APHPU is too small and under powered to create holograms with the same level of complexity however it can be used to create specific objects with nearly unheard of complexity.

This device is used in three primary ways: espionage, repairs, and demonstrations. When used for espionage the APHPU is programmed to copy the surrounding environment and project it around the user, i.e. it can make the user look like another section of a wall, desk, tree, etc. It can also be programmed with the likeness of specific individuals, i.e. the HPU can project the image of Bob Peterson over the body and movements of Col. Lyboc. It is important to note that while the visual representation is 98% accurate, the unit cannot duplicate voices, or mannerisms, it can only project the image and alter it to coincide with the characters movements. The Contra-Gravity device will allow the hologram to pass a cursory inspection, i.e. you can't stick your hand into it, nor can it walk through walls however, it only works when it can anticipate the action.

When used for repairs the mechanic may use it to record the steps involved for training purposes or simply as a personal record to be used for backtracking or proving that the work was done properly.

The APHPU is also used by commanders to give orders from the field or to view a map of the surrounding area in full color and 3-D. The device is also capable of communicating via satellite to any other unit or base station. This device is very common on the Asylum homeworlds, in the command structure of the AAF, the Special ops division, and the AIA.
